Your retirement should be a time of celebration and joy. You finally have time and resources to do the things that make you happy.
We have more than 25 years of experience preparing and guiding individuals toward their retirement goals. In that time, we’ve determined a few things that most retirees have in common:
Most retirees don’t want to lose what they’ve spent so much time saving. That’s why we make the protection of a client’s principal a high priority.
Though they may not realize it, every retiree needs an estate plan to effectively transfer assets and establish legal documents such as will, trust, and power of attorney.
No one likes taxes. While paying some tax is inevitable, we strive to minimize taxes on client assets wherever possible.
Retirees don’t want to just be in retirement … they want to ENJOY retirement. And that often involves spending on hobbies, travel, and relaxation.
The most common question I receive is ‘I’ve got $250,000 in my 401(k). What do I do now?’ My job is to help people find the answer.
Rick Martin is a retired United States Marine Corps (USMC) officer, financial advisor, and the founder of Martin & Company Financial. He prepares financial plans with a keen attention to detail and accuracy gained from a long career in our armed services.
Rick started his civilian career in the insurance industry with Mutual of Omaha, but soon turned his attention to the financial markets and preparing clients for their retirement futures.
His experience guiding and training Marines prepared him well to counsel concerned retirees about the future. Understanding that clients needed more than just investment management, he expanded his practice to include estate planning and tax considerations, giving retirees a comprehensive approach to their income planning and financial needs.
Rick holds FINRA Series 6, 62, 63, and 65 licenses. His personal motto is “if you can’t be on time, be early,” something he learned early with his time in the USMC. He is extremely proud that in his 21 years serving our nation he never lost a Marine.

What We Do
Our first step is to get to know one another, as it is impossible to plan for your financial future until we share a high degree of trust. Once you decide to work with us, we take you through an objective analysis of your current financial situation and general opinion of your finances, and money in general. We’ll ask questions like:
This consultative approach allows us to pair our solutions to your need – there are no “hard sells” here. We want to help you through the retirement process and enjoy your non-working years.
Based on your feedback, we’ll identify where you are on our Iconic Image. This educational tool outlines the steps toward financial success. Just like a pyramid, you must have a strong foundation before attending to higher level needs, such as retirement income or legacy planning. Though we have experience helping individuals in all stages of life, we work best with people within five years of retirement.
We provide strategies to solve the issues identified and take you to the top of the Iconic Image. Once you approve those strategies, we put them in place and provide ongoing, consultative feedback through regular communication and annual reviews. Should your needs or personal situation change, we can adjust your personalized strategy to benefit that new situation.
